Project Porchlight Saskatchewan

Simple Actions Matter in Saskatchewan!
Thanks to the dedication of more than 1,100 volunteers and with funding from SaskPower Eneraction, the Project Porchlight team successfully distributed more than 200,000 free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs to residents door-to-door and at more than 100 community events across Saskatchewan during the fall of 2008!
An amazing 276 community groups and organizations helped distribute CFL bulbs and empower Saskatchewanians to believe that simple actions matter, including:
- 62 Municipalities
- 19 Schools
- 14 Aboriginal Organizations
- 32 Media
- 21 Youth Organizations
- 25 Other Community Organizations and Businesses
- 11 Elected Officials
200,000 light bulbs changed means:
- 154,000,000kWh of electricity reduced
- $8,000,000 in energy saved by Saskatchewan residents
- 9300 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions cut
That’s equivalent to taking more than 2400 cars off Saskatchewan roads for a year!
Congratulations Saskatchewan!
