CJDC (Dawson Creek, BC): Kruk Honoured Internationally
Late Dawson Creek Mayor Calvin Kruk is being honoured by an international environmental group for bringing Project Porchlight to BC, and in particular, Dawson Creek. Kruk was recognized posthumously in Ottawa last week when he was presented with the One Change Catalyst Award. Communications and Outreach Manager at One Change Manon Croteau says Kruk was recognized at a touching ceremony, along with Ottawa South M.P. David McGuinty, EnCana Corporation, and the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation. The Right Honorable Stéphane Dion was also in attendance at the ceremony. Croteau says Kruk's accomplishments stand out among the elite. Over 20 000 light bulbs were handed out in Northeastern BC after Mayor Kruk invited the campaign to Dawson Creek. The Project porchlight campaign runs in four provinces, and three U.S. states with over 10 000 volunteers delivering 2 000 000 free energy efficient light bulbs door to door.
