Project Porchlight bounces into Fort St. John

Maybe it was the green, white and blue beach balls that rolled into town on August 16th. It could have been our smiling staff cuddling up to the goats, cows, horses and puppies. Or maybe it was our giant banner wilting under the scorching heat. Whatever it was, if you were around Fort St. John, BC this past weekend, you probably caught wind of the fact that Project Porchlight was in town for the 61st Annual Fort St. John Fall Fair. And what a great time we had!

The 30+ degree temperature did nothing to lessen the spirits of the North. Hundreds of people come out to enjoy the music and exhibits, the petting zoo, the old tractors and cars, and of course, the delicious food. They also took some time to learn about energy conservation. Our staff joined forces with representatives from the BC Hydro Power Smart [1] Team - Melanie, Tabitha and Ashley - to educate folks about Project Porchlight and hand out free CFLs. We signed up 45 volunteers for our upcoming fall campaign in the Fort St. John and North Eastern BC area.

Can't wait to see you guys again in a few weeks!
