- Who are Project Porchlight's sponsors?
Project Porchlight receives funding from a variety of organizations including government bodies (municipal, provincial, federal), utilities, and pubic and private companies.
- How can Project Porchlight hand out so many free bulbs?
Project Porchlight can hand out so many free CFL bulbs thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, partners and volunteers. Our sponsors provide us with the funding we need to fund daily operations, our partners provide needed materials and support, and our volunteers bring it all together, delivering bulbs door to door in their communities.
- Why the name Porchlight?
Replacing any old incandescent light bulb with a CFL will save energy and save money. But replacing the one on your porch has extra value. For one, replacing outdoor bulbs usually requires more work than an inside bulb, and the long life of CFL bulbs means less changes. More important, replacing the light on your porch with a CFL sends a message to everyone who sees it that you’ve made the switch and that encourages others to do the same. The Porchlight is a sign of a better and brighter Canada.
- What is Project Porchlight?
Project Porchlight is a community-based environmental initiative run by the not-for-profit organization One Change. The goal of Project Porchlight is to get Canadians to think about everyday ways they can conserve energy. The way we’re meeting our goal is by distributing a free CFL bulb to every home in Canada.
- What is One Change?
One Change is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Our volunteer Board of Directors is made up ordinary folks who know that we have to take action on climate change. Getting people to change one light bulb is one way to start. We welcome the input and involvement of, well, everybody.
