WHAT IS PROJECT PORCHLIGHT?
Project Porchlight is an energy efficiency campaign administered by One Change, a not-for-profit organization that advocates community engagement and environmental sustainability. One Change will be working with other participating groups to bring a variety of energy efficient residential lighting campaigns to residents of New Jersey. These participants seek to establish common themes in the branding and marketing of their programs in order to convey their collaboration to the public.

Position Type: Temporary full-time (about 5-month contract with possible extension)
Job Location: Newark, New Jersey
Salary Range: $45,000 annually (pro-rated to 5 months)
Experience: 2-3 years

ROLE OF THEME COORDINATOR
The Project Porchlight Theme Coordinator will facilitate the creation of common themes by bringing together the various Participants and helping to create a clear vision and plan for implementing determined themes based on the various interests of the various Participants. The Theme Coordinator will work closely with the communications team at One Change's head office in Ottawa, Ontario, the organization which will lead this process, to ensure effective messaging and representation.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the development of common, standardized campaign themes and art work and distribute to other participants.
  • Collect, review, and advise on the communications plans and strategies of various participants according to agreed upon themes.
  • Advise other participants as to the appropriate and effective use of common campaign theme materials.
  • Inform participants of other campaigns' plans and coordinate communications activities as part of a collective strategy.
  • Liaise with other participants to ensure maximum campaign outreach via complementary strategies and public communications.
  • Assist in reviewing all marketing materials as produced by the other Participants against the approved common messaging platform.
  • Report on issues of non-compliance with NJCEP program guidelines for public communications.

Core Competencies/Qualifications:

  • Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, social sciences or a related field
  • Advanced event planning, promotion and management experience
  • Experience in the facilitating and mediating of collaborative groups
  • Experience in project coordination in community organizations and the non-profit sector
  • Experience in the development and evaluation of strategic marketing materials
  • Experience preparing schedules, work plans and reports
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills
  • Ability to oversee and manage complex projects on time and on budget
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills and the capacity to work under pressure with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working with and representing the interests of corporate and other funding agencies
  • Excellent verbal, written communication ability and excellent interpersonal relations ability
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Must be able to work in a culturally competent manner
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental stewardship and conservation would be considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license
