Project Porchlight can hand out so many free CFL bulbs thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, partners and volunteers. Our sponsors provide us with the funding we need to fund daily operations, our partners provide needed materials and support, and our volunteers bring it all together, delivering bulbs door to door in their communities. Volunteers, community groups, and community leaders are key to the success of the Project Porchlight a grassroots movement.

Our pilot project took place in Fenelon Falls, Ontario and we rolled out our first major campaign in Ottawa. Replacing any old incandescent light bulb with a CFL will save energy and save money. But replacing the one on your porch has extra value. For one, replacing outdoor bulbs usually requires more work than an inside bulb, and the long life of CFL bulbs means less changes. Also, bulbs that remain on for the longest period of time are the smartest to change as you'll end up saving more money. More important, replacing the light on your porch with a CFL sends a message to everyone who sees it that you've made the switch and that encourages others to do the same. The Porchlight is a sign of a better and brighter North America.
