Ask anyone from Beaumont, Alberta to name the highlight of the summer and you’ll probably get this answer: the Town and Country Daze. The annual event offers treats and delights for people of all ages, including a parade, a soapbox derby, a slow-pitch tournament, a dance and all kinds of mouth-watering goodies.
This year, the Town and Country Daze was held from June 13th to 15th at the Four Seasons Park. Project Porchlight joined in the festivities on the final day. We wandered around the park, taking in the sights and handing out free light bulbs to the attendees. In all, we gave away about 350 CFLs.
We were excited to find that most of the people there had already heard of our campaign and taken steps to go green on their own. Even some of the young kids told us that they’d already learned about CFLs and going green in school. But they were still super happy to receive one of our free bulbs!
