Hockey players pass the Porchlight torch
Posted by Amanda | September 16, 2008

The Fort Nelson and area minor hockey league came through big time for Project Porchlight this week. On September 9th, we showed up to the EnCana Skating Party to celebrate the opening of the city’s new arena. The kids took part in the free public skating session, and enjoyed the cameo by former NHL player Lanny McDonald. And the parents of the hockey players manned the BBQ, providing all 150 attendees with a delicious meal.

With the parents overseeing the cooking, Project Porchlight was free to hand out CFLs to nearly every adult who walked by our booth. Thank you to all the local hockey players and their families for lending a hand. And kudos to EnCana for providing the food and entertainment!
